How Metadata2Go Can Help Teachers, Investigators, and Parents in the New AI World

While checking out a few documents on the Metadata2go website, I discovered some helpful hints for teachers, investigators, and parents. For starters, when uploading a document to this website, be careful that none of the data is of a sensitive nature as you do not know where the information will end up. For instance, I would not want anyone’s personal identifying information (PII) to be released to a website that is not completely vetted. This is a metadata and EXIF data viewer tool and the website promises privacy, but I would never release information from a document that would later be scrutinized so use common sense and redaction as necessary.

Once this is considered, you can upload a document and the information the metadata will provide is as follows:

  • How long was the edit time (this is important because if cheating was involved such as ChatGPT or AI, copy and paste will be approx 19 seconds)

  • Will show who created the document/form

  • Who modified form

  • Which person/company owns the Microsoft Document that the student/applicant/suspect/child is using

  • Date of modification

  • Revision number

Running paperwork through this website allows you to see things not visible at first glance. This can be useful to be ahead of the game for your children. If you are a background investigator, it can be helpful looking at a DD214 (military discharge) that appears altered. For teachers, this may allow you to review papers through yet another version of anti-cheating software to look for AI fingerprints.

Not only does this website run documents, but it will also run photos and videos. This may be useful to make sure photos and videos aren’t depicting locations or any other information you don’t want to make available.
